Xay’s three-pronged approach to tackling the housing crisis consists of protecting existing homeowners, cracking down on short-term rentals, and boosting affordability. 

As mayor, he’s taken action by providing tax relief to year-round homeowners while increasing enforcement on illegal short-term rentals. He’s also leading the charge to re-develop run-down properties to provide more middle-class housing. His leadership has helped Newport build a pipeline of 300 new housing units.

Once re-elected, Xay will work hard to boost housing affordability, ensure that development fits within the fabric of our community, and continue cracking down on illegal short-term rentals that threaten year-long homeowners.
